The Hatchery

The Hatchery supports students from all Emory schools, equipping them with the skillsets and mindsets to be purpose-driven and effective innovators and entrepreneurs. Housed within a 15,000-square-foot creativity and collaboration space, The Hatchery offers mentoring and program support for all stages of innovation—from inspiration and learning to startups.

The Hatchery currently supports 30-35 ventures per year in our Incubator and Accelerator programs, with a goal of serving 110 ventures per year consistently by 2027. The funds raised will provide financial support in the form of stipends and grants, fund the hiring of staff and Innovators in Residence (industry expert mentors) to coach and mentor student founders, and cover the programming costs necessary to scale the program to triple the number of ventures.

The Hatchery used this fund in 2024 to grant 3 of our student founders $2,500 each to help launch their ventures. One of these ventures, Owanga Solar, went on to become one of 16 semi-finalists (out of 9,400 ventures) in the prestigious Hult Prize competition aimed at solving some of the world’s biggest sustainable development challenges as defined by the United Nations.
