Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture

What is the nature of the human mind? The Emory Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture (CMBC) seeks new answers to this fundamental question by supporting interdisciplinary research, scholarship, and training at the intersection of mind, brain, and culture. Our core activities include organizing thematic workshops, discussion meetings, and lectures as well as training the next generation of interdisciplinary scholars though our Graduate Certificate and Undergraduate Fellows programs.

Your gift will directly support CMBC programming, including the cost of visiting lectures from prominent and emerging international scholars, interdisciplinary workshops, and funding for small grants to support interdisciplinary research and professional development by our Graduate and Undergraduate students.

We are currently supporting a cohort of nine Graduate Certificate students and three Undergraduate Fellows! With your support, we have been able to sponsor travel and research funding for these individuals, and to provide a diverse array of events to engage students and faculty alike, including lectures, lunches, podcasts, and workshops.

Don’t take our word for it. Here is a quote from one of our Core Faculty:

“It’s been a great privilege for me to be included in CMBC programs and it’s one of the better things – more exciting things – that’s happened at Emory during my 37 years here.” - MELVIN KONNER, Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Anthropology and Behavioral Biology

And from one of our Graduate Alumni:

“The CMBC gave me exposure to fields outside my own… you realize through the CMBC that there is so much out there.” - CHRISTINA N. ROGERS FLATTERY, Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Human Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University
