Department of History

Led by innovative, discipline-defining faculty, the Emory History Department produces cutting-edge understandings about the significance of the past in the present. Our areas of specialization encompass - and illuminate revealing connections across - an array of thematic, geographical, and chronological contexts.

We value collaboration, equity, and rigorous intellectual exchange, and we work to cultivate personalized relationships of support and mentorship with our students. We provide robust opportunities for research and creative inquiry for both undergraduates and graduate students within the classroom, in archives, and far beyond.

We are fundraising to support our students' abilities to take the skills and knowledge they've acquired in our classrooms and conduct their own historical research across the world.

Your gift could support our undergraduate majors working on honors theses, independent studies, and creative projects. With financial funding provided by the department, our students conduct historical research across the country and world--from Berlin to Brisbane--to enrich their understanding of the past and produce new knowledge in the form of honors theses, creative works, museum displays, curriculum guides, historical fiction, and more.

Your gift could support our Ph.D. students, their research, and their professional development as they launch their careers as historians. Gifts like yours could allow our students to pursue dissertation research around the world, attend conferences in their areas of specialization, and receive recognition for superlative work.
