Emergency Medicine

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our patients, the careers of our students and residents, the safety of our community, and the health of the world through our contributions in clinical service, teaching, and research.

Wellness, Teaching and Education: We train the next generation of Emergency Medicine leaders to emerge from the Emory EM residency program with the skills, clinical knowledge, and compassion to provide the highest quality care for patients. The Emergency Medicine Residents have an opportunity to choose a pathway in Critical Care, EMS, Global Health, Scholarship and Innovation, Social Emergency Medicine, Ultrasound, and Wellness, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Emory EM Residents graduate with the ability to practice independently in any demanding Emergency Department in the country.

Your gift today will help us prepare the next generation of Emergency Medicine physicians to impact the Emergency Departments around the United States and globally. It will also provide needed support for wellness initiatives including meals for residents dealing with personal illness or loss, and class retreats throughout the year.

Research and Development: Emory EM's focus on Research and Innovation supports translational research labs including the Neurotrauma Translational Research Center and the Emergency Neuroscience Lab + Trial Operations Core, clinical trials, the Injury Prevention Research Center, and IDEAS research groups that collaborate broadly across disciplines and with government and industry to study how we can improve health. Our work has impacted health locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

Additionally, the team is pioneering opportunities in the Emergency Department with ventures like Health DesignED, TeleEMS, and Clinical Decision Units (CDUs). Emory EM is reshaping patient-healthcare dynamics. Our unwavering commitment is to harness these innovations, enhance patient experiences, and ensure optimal outcomes. Your gift today will help Emory EM research and drive innovation to improve health outcomes.

The Emory EM IDEAS Scholars program has trained 21 EM faculty in the fundamentals of conducting research, building a research career, and grant development.  Graduates of this program have submitted over 70 proposals. Your gift will help Emory EM faculty engage in research, discovery and innovation.
