EMERGE

EMERGE--Empowering Women for Leadership in Global Health--is a leadership development program for diverse graduate students at Emory who self-identify as women and who show promise as change makers in the field.

Funds will be used for student scholarships, student-centered faculty instruction, and graduate-student program staff.

The multifaceted EMERGE program includes foundational leadership training, an eight-month mentored team-challenge project, monthly leadership seminars, and an end of program dissemination of team-project findings. Before the 2022-2023 program cycle, one EMERGE fellow asserted her aspirations for the program as “…thriving in a career where I am actively using my leadership abilities to build and drive a team forward.” Another EMERGE fellow desired to be “seen as a leader within a workplace.” All EMERGE fellows in the 2022-2023 cohort reported increases in their confidence and proficiency in skills related to leadership, team management, and relationships with mentors. As one fellow summed up her experience: "I learned the ability to just step up when needed."
