COMPLETED - 2O36 Giving Week

Emory's 2O36 Giving Week is a 5-day online giving event to support Emory's bicentennial vision of student flourishing. Promote, give, and watch the collective impact of the Emory community on scholarships, academic programs, campus experiences, and student organizations over the 100 hours.

Online giving at dayofgiving.emory.edu kicks off officially at 8 a.m. EDT Monday, October 30, and continues through 1 p.m. EDT Friday, November 3.

From Oct. 30- Nov. 3, the Emory campus community will promote opportunities to support their respective departments, centers, and programs. Using first-hand testimonies from faculty, staff, and student leaders on how philanthropic support will impact their areas, the 2O36 Giving Week website allows donors to have a direct connection to those who will benefit from their gift. 

Follow 2O36 Giving Week to learn more about and support innovative, important programs essential to helping Emory students figure out not just what, but who they want to be in life. Plus your gift goes further with matches and challenges awarded to areas which receive the most gifts. 

Because 2O36 Giving Week is a time limited giving campaign, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online at dayofgiving.emory.edu. This is the only way to ensure your gift will qualify for timebound matches and challenges that are taking place throughout the campaign. To give by phone, you may call 404.712.GIVE (4483) from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. EDT October 30 through November 2 and until Noon on November 3, but we cannot guarantee that gifts made over the phone will count toward matches and challenges.

Please review the participating groups at dayofgiving.emory.edu to find the area that inspires you. From school specific scholarships and academic programs to campus-wide programs and student organizations, there are hundreds of ways to make a difference.  

Matching funds and challenges help drive competition among and increase support for participating groups. Matches double your gift to a specific school, unit, or program area. Challenges unlock bonus dollars when a goal is met. Challenge leaderboards are timebound and rank participating groups based on certain criteria, with the top groups earning bonus dollars. Amplify the impact of your gifts by visiting the Challenges page or seeing active matches and challenges on the 2O36 Giving Week homepage or the participating group landing page. Check back for updates throughout the event.

Use our digital toolkit and share why you give to Emory using the hashtag #2O36GivingWeek! During the event, our social media aggregator will be active on dayofgiving.emory.edu to allow you to view real time updates from the Emory community. Advancement volunteers create excitement, receive insider updates, get others involved, and earn special prizes. 

Advancement volunteers are Emory’s digital leaders, sharing messages and creating excitement about 2O36 Giving Week before and during the campaign. In 2022, Emory had more than 250 volunteers who helped inspire about one-third of Emory 2O36 Giving Week online gifts! With just a few hours of time, these volunteers help spread awareness—asking their network to give through email, text, direct message, and social media. Volunteers receive insider updates, and top fundraisers can win bonus dollars to allocate to their favorite school, unit or program. If you are interested in becoming an advancement volunteer, you can register online or email annualgiving@emory.edu with questions.

All gifts made at dayofgiving.emory.edu count. Gifts made by the deadlines below will be uploaded to dayofgiving.emory.edu and counted in "top donor" leaderboards. Gifts made online using a special early giving link can be made through Oct. 30. Credit card gifts can be made through the EAGLE Center (student calling program) from Oct. 30-Nov. 3. Mailed checks must reference 2O36 Giving Week and be received by Nov. 1. Mailed gifts received after Nov. 1 will count toward final campaign totals but we cannot guarantee they will be processed in time to be uploaded to dayofgiving.emory.edu. Confirmation from a Donor Advised Fund request must by emailed to annualgiving@emory.edu by 11 a.m. on Nov. 3. While we greatly appreciate pledges, only gift transactions (credit card or digital wallet payments) count in the 2O36 Giving Week campaign.

Emory alumni networks and affinity groups have the option to create their own microsites at and advocate for support to giving areas of their choice. Go to dayofgiving.emory.edu/alumni to see participating networks. By making your gift through an alumni network's page, you will help them compete for additional programmatic dollars awarded through the network leaderboard. 

Yes, your "offline" request to your Donor Advised Fund, IRA rollover, or stock transfer can count in 2O36 Giving Week. Our team will need to manually book your gift on the site. In order to take advantage of this, please: 

1. Make a gift recommendation or distribution request to your financial institution between 8:00 a.m. EDT on October 30 and 11:00 a.m. EDT on November 3. 

2. Send a copy of the confirmation issued by your financial institution by 11:00 a.m. EDT on November 3 (e.g. an auto-generated email confirmation or screenshot) to annualgiving@emory.edu.

3. In your email to annualgiving@emory.edu, confirm the amount, the specific area or fund you wish to support, and how you prefer your name listed on the donor wall (or anonymous).

While your gift will count in overall 2O36 Giving Week leaderboards and campaign totals, it will not be eligible for time sensitive matches or challenges. 

Select the Department or Program of your choice (i.e. College of Arts and Sciences), then select "Other" in the Fund Designation drop down menu, and type in the program and/or fund name you wish to support (i.e. Biology Department). We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately.

The 2O36 Giving Week platform accepts the following payment options: credit card and digital wallet options of PayPal, Venmo, and ApplePay. Digital wallet options will only appear if they are set up on your personal device. ApplePay is only available when using Safari as your mobile browser (ApplePay is not available on Chrome or Facebook browsers). Venmo is only available on mobile devices. When making your first Venmo gift, a pop-up will ask you to AGREE to Venmo’s service terms; this happens automatically on iPhone but on android devices, you will need to go to your Venmo app.

All gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Once you complete your gift transaction, you will receive an email confirmation. This will serve as your official gift acknowledgement and tax receipt from Emory University.

Yes! To do so, click the "+ Add another gift to your donation" link in the Donate section on the giving page.

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site. When making a gift with your credit card, be sure to use your billing address and NOT your mailing address. Gifts made via Vemno, Paypal, and ApplePay will also be charged immediately against your account upon finalizing your gift on the site.

Thousands of companies match gifts to higher education, which can double or triple your gift. To find out if your employer (or your spouse's employer) has a matching gift program, visit https://together.emory.edu/matching-gifts. If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form. You may need to provide Emory's Employer Identification Number (EIN) on the form, which is 58-0566256.

Yes. When you make a gift at dayofgiving.emory.edu, gifts are processed through a third-party secure payment processing vendor. The information you provide when you make a gift will be used by Emory University for the purpose of correctly allocating, crediting, and acknowledging your gift. The charge on your credit card statement will appear from EMORY MOMENTUM. When making a gift with your credit card, be sure to use your billing address and NOT your mailing address.
