Hindu Life

Hindu Life at Emory aims to support the flourishing of the Hindu community on campus. This support includes festival celebrations and observances, discussion groups, student leadership and organization support, accommodations assistance, pastoral care and more.

We are fundraising for the brand new, custom made altars that will be located in the Interfaith Center. These altars, which are being hand-carved in India, will serve as a site for spiritual connection for those who may be seeking it on campus. Additionally, we are seeking funds to support our growing participation in Hindu celebrations like Ganesh Puja and Navaratri Garba, community dinners, pujas, temple trips, retreats, weekly aartis, and new Hindu programming for the Emory Interfaith Center.

Your support has tremendously changed the scale and scope of programming offered to the Hindu community. For example, in just the past two years, the Hindu Student Association’s annual Ganesh Puja celebrations have gone from 40 attendees to over 110 attendees, and this has been the case for nearly all such events. Additionally, we have been able to provide transportation for our annual Mahashivratri temple trip which has also seen growth in participation over recent years. This growth has led to a budding group of graduate students who are eager to create new spaces for their own dialogue and discussion. And now, with the new altars on their way, we will look forward to having the unique opportunity of observing even more festivals that are dear to our diverse Hindu community. This growth is indicative of not only of community interest, but also the flourishing and possibilities your support can provide for the Emory Hindu community.
