We are a club dedicated to promoting pickleball in the Emory community as well as the greater collegiate/Atlanta environment. We do this by hosting 3 practice sessions each week as well as hosting and attending tournaments throughout the school year! For example, we plan to play in an intra-Georgia tournament in October as well as to compete in the DUPR regional/national collegiate events. We also work to get more/better quality equipment (balls, nets, paddles) for our members to use so that they can find their passion in pickleball.
Some of the projects we are fundraising for include our October Intra-Georgia tournament as well as our annual Open Doubles Tournament in February. In both of these tournaments, we are hoping to have at least 16-20 club members sign up and compete (with each other and with other schools). Money raised for this will be used to purchase equipment and high quality prizes for different placements (including paddles, gift cards, and more)!
Another big project we are fundraising for is the development of new/dedicated pickleball courts on campus! Over the past year, we have succeeded in getting 4 non-dedicated courts painted for us; however, with our increasing member-count (30 people each day), we are in need of more better quality practice space. We are hoping to get at least 2 dedicated pickleball courts approved for construction by the end of the academic year, and any donations will not only direct contribute to the growth of Emory pickleball, but also to the growth of pickleball within the greater metropolitan area of Atlanta (there are very few facilities with dedicated pickleball courts in the city)!
