The Disabled Law Student Association at Emory Law School is an organization for law students with varying physical, mental, cognitive, learning, and sensory abilities, chronic illness, and psychological conditions and their supporters. DLSA is a newer affinity group chartered in 2022. DLSA aims to eliminate the stigma of disability within the legal profession, support disabled and prospective law students, and foster an inclusive and accessible environment for disabled law students. DLSA endeavors to recognize and center the experiences of students and lawyers with visible and invisible disabilities and the intersections of historically underrepresented groups and disabilities within the Emory University School of Law community.
We are fundraising to generate additional funding to help DLSA members build community by hosting career panels, networking events, and peer support events. Each of these requires financial support to pay invited speakers, supply food and beverages, and fund interpreting and additional accessibility services, which the university does not provide for student organization events. Additional funding would also help DLSA create a scholarship for a member or members at Emory Law School to secure tutoring and bar preparation support. DLSA is a permanently-chartered student organization within Emory Law School, established within the last few years. As such, DLSA members would be grateful for your support in making our presence and legacy endure at Emory Law.
