Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing

Preparing the nurses of tomorrow is our focus of today. Recognized as a top-10 School of Nursing by U.S. News and World Report across our baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing enables the next generation of nurses to meet their personal and professional goals through a world-class education.

With your support, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing will continue to lead the way in nursing education, research, and innovative healthcare practices. We invite you to invest in tomorrow’s nursing leaders and shape the future of our school. Your generosity will help ensure a vibrant, highly skilled nursing workforce for years to come.

For Emory Day of Giving, we are highlighting these priority giving opportunities

Physical Spaces

The Emory Nursing Learning Center (ENLC) is a 70,000 sq. ft. space that expands the School of Nursing's ability to support nursing education. Your generosity provides the latest in simulation technology and teaching resources that expose our students to practical, cutting-edge experiential learning opportunities.

Groundbreaking Dementia Care

Emory's Integrated Memory Care (IMC) is a nationally-recognized nurse-led primary care model that addresses the unique challenges that dementia patients and their care partners face. It is the only nurse-led center of its kind, treating each patient's dementia and other chronic conditions using a palliative care framework and engaging care partners as a key member of the care team.

Scholarship Support

Through the dedication and generosity of hundreds of alumni, faculty, staff, and donors, we are looking to permanently endow the Betty Marie Scholarship Fund to serve countless nursing students in perpetuity. Betty Marie Stewart has been a loyal and committed member of the Emory community for more than 70 years. Through her time, talent, and professional energy she has given tirelessly to serve Emory and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in numerous capacities.

With your support, not only will you be honoring Betty Marie, but also providing pre-licensure students with a scholarship that transforms lives and contributes to the next generation of nurse leaders. Your support will open doors to access, intellectual growth, and life-changing opportunities for our students.

By giving to this fund, your gift will be designated for the Betty Marie Scholarship Fund within Gifts Pending - NUR Endowed Scholarships, a holding account until the $100,000 endowment threshold is achieved.

Nursing Student Assistance Fund

The Nursing Student Assistance Fund provides support for students experiencing unforeseen financial difficulty meeting basic or unexpected expenses. A class of 2022 NHWSN graduate shares, “Being many years out from college, I had no idea how much STEM textbooks cost. Add to that all the expenses of a nursing education, including: a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and other medical equipment; scrubs in the school-approved style and colors, embroidered with the school’s name; decent nursing shoes that would allow me to be on my feet for 12 hour shifts, along with compression stockings; courses for the various certifications I needed as part of my program; and, gas to get from clinical site to clinical site. Programs like The Cabinet* food pantry were crucial for my success. Nursing education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background.”

*The Cabinet is an initiative of the Nursing Student Assistance Fund that provides students with access to a food pantry and other short-term financial assistance.

Flexibility Fund Support

A gift to the Nursing Fund for Excellence provides Dean Linda McCauley with the flexibility to invest in strategic priorities at the School of Nursing. The Nursing Fund for Excellence is utilized to help with faculty retention and recruitment, student research, and in areas that bring our community together and celebrate our successes.
