Emory Day of Giving 2024

Emory Day of Giving is a 36-hour online giving event celebrating everything Emory and offers easy and fun ways to support what inspires you. 

Online giving at dayofgiving.emory.edu kicks off officially at 6 a.m. EDT Wednesday, March 27, and continues through 6 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 28. That's right, Emory Day of Giving is 36 hours! 

Your support provides Emory the ongoing resources that are crucial to its growth and success as a world-class institution. Donors help change lives every day with gifts that support academics, research, patient care, scholarship, and service to others. It takes the collective annual support of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty, and staff to make Emory a great institution. Also it's fun! From matches and challenges to amplify the impact of your gifts to regional and on-campus events with give-a-ways, you will want to be part of this most Wonderful Wednesday (and Thursday) of the year.

Because Emory Day of Giving is a time limited giving campaign, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online at dayofgiving.emory.edu. This is the only way to ensure your gift will qualify for matches and challenges that are taking place throughout the campaign. To give by phone, you may call 404.712.GIVE (4483) from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. EDT on March 27 and 28, but we cannot guarantee that gifts made over the phone will count toward matches and challenges.

Please review the participating groups at dayofgiving.emory.edu to find the area that inspires you. From contributing to student scholarships and strengthening academic programs to funding transformational research and supporting innovative patient care, you can make an immediate and lasting difference for Emory. While there are specific funds within each participating group, most groups also have a Fund for Excellence that provides unrestricted resources to help Emory's schools and departments make strategic investments in high-priority areas.

If you are not able to find your desired fund allocation, please select the school/unit/cause of your choice and click Give Now. On the checkout page, select "Other" in the Fund Designation drop down menu, and type in the program and/or fund name you wish to support. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately.

Matching funds and challenges help drive competition among and increase support for participating groups. Matches double your gift to a specific fund within a school, unit, or program area. Challenges unlock bonus dollars when a goal is met. Challenge leaderboards are timebound and rank participating groups based on certain criteria, with the top groups earning bonus dollars. Use our digital toolkit and share why you give to Emory using the hashtag #EmoryDayofGiving! During the event, our social media aggregator will be active on dayofgiving.emory.edu to allow you to view real time updates from the Emory community. You can also attend on-campus or regional events and help promote matches and challenges throughout the day to maximize the power of donations. Ready for more? Since 2017, Emory Day of Giving (originally nicknamed "All In a Day") has set new records for donor count, online giving, and volunteers engaged annually. The second and third give day events in February 2018 and 2019 each raised over $1,000,000 through 3,400 gifts. The 2020 Emory Day of Giving was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our fundraising focus was shifted to immediate student need and the Emory Healthcare system. In 2021, our virtual only event raised $874,475 through 3,363 gifts. In 2022, we truly elevated give day with more on-campus and regional events plus digital wallet payment options, resulting in over 5,000 gifts and $1.4 million raised for Emory.  Emory Day of Giving 2023 continued the tradition of record-breaking fundraising with $1.5 million raised from over 5,800 gifts.

Advancement Volunteers are Emory’s digital leaders, sharing messages and creating excitement about Emory Day of Giving before and during the campaign. In 2023, more than 1,050 volunteers generated $240,000, ultimately inspiring nearly 35% of Emory Day of Giving online gifts. With just a few minutes of time, these volunteers help spread awareness—asking their network to give through email, text, direct message, and social media. Volunteers receive insider updates, earn Emory swag, and top fundraisers can win bonus dollars to allocate to their favorite school, unit or program. Each of your Emory Day of Giving online gifts can also help your favorite Emory Alumni Board, Regional Network, or Affinity Group! It’s easy. Select an area to support at dayofgiving.emory.edu and click Give Now. On the checkout page, select alumni for your affiliation, and then see the option to associate your gift with an Emory Board or Network. Scroll the list to see over 50 participating networks. Each gift you make doubles your impact. First, you strengthen the Emory program you are most passionate about. Second, you help your Emory Board or Network compete for bragging rights and prizes on the Networks Leaderboard.

All gifts made at dayofgiving.emory.edu count. Early Emory Day of Giving gifts made by the deadlines below will be uploaded to dayofgiving.emory.edu and counted in “top donor” leaderboards. Gifts via mail must be received by March 26 and use a remit form or reference to Emory Day of Giving. Mailed gifts received after March 26 will count toward final campaign totals but we cannot guarantee they will be processed in time to be uploaded to dayofgiving.emory.edu. Gifts made online using a special early giving Emory Day of Giving link will count through March 26. Gifts made over the phone through the EAGLE Center (March 12 through March 28 at 6 p.m.) and the Give Line 404.712.4483 (March 27 through March 28 at 6 p.m.) will also count in event totals, but we cannot guarantee that gifts made over the phone will count toward matches and challenges. Confirmation from a Donor Advised Fund request must by emailed to annualgiving@emory.edu by 5:00 p.m. on March 28. While we greatly appreciate pledges, only gift transactions (cash and cash equivalents) count in the Emory Day of Giving campaign.

Yes, your "offline" request to your Donor Advised Fund, IRA rollover, or stock transfer can count in Emory Day of Giving. Our team will need to manually book your gift on the site. In order to take advantage of this, please: 
1. Make a gift recommendation or distribution request to your financial institution during the early giving period (March 12-26) or between 6:00 am EDT on March 27 and 5:00 pm EDT on March 28. 
2. Send a copy of the confirmation issued by your financial institution by 5:00pm EDT on March 28 (e.g. an auto-generated email confirmation or screenshot) to annualgiving@emory.edu.
3. In your email to annualgiving@emory.edu, confirm the amount, the specific area or fund you wish to support, and how you prefer your name listed on the donor wall (or anonymous).
While your gift will count in overall Emory Day of Giving leaderboards and campaign totals, it will not be eligible for time sensitive matches or challenges. 

Award dollars from central leaderboard, challenges, and events are transferred to the winning groups’ speedtypes after all Emory Day of Giving donations have been processed. Award dollars are reflected on a group’s Emory Day of Giving page, but will not instantly be transferred. Awards are not considered philanthropic donations so they are not reflected in our advancement database; instead they are direct speedtype transfers. It often takes several months for award money to be transferred to the associated speedtype in coordination with Emory finance teams. 

Select the Department or Program of your choice (i.e. College of Arts and Sciences), then select "Other" in the Fund Designation drop down menu, and type in the program and/or fund name you wish to support (i.e. Biology Department). If you are unsure of the Department or Program, then go to University-wide initiatives, select "Other" in the Fund Designation drop down menu, and type in the program and/or fund name you wish to support. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately.

The Emory Day of Giving platform accepts the following payment options: credit card and digital wallet options of PayPal, Venmo, and ApplePay. Digital wallet options will only appear if they are set up on your personal device. ApplePay is only available when using Safari as your mobile browser (ApplePay is not available on Chrome or Facebook browsers). Venmo is only available on mobile devices. When making your first Venmo gift, a pop-up will ask you to AGREE to Venmo’s service terms; this happens automatically on iPhone but on android devices, you will need to go to your Venmo app.

All gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Once you complete your gift transaction, you will receive an email confirmation. This will serve as your official gift acknowledgement and tax receipt from Emory University.

Yes! To do so, click the "+ Add another gift to your donation" link in the Donate section on the giving page.

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site. When making a gift with your credit card, be sure to use your billing address and NOT your mailing address. Gifts made via Vemno, Paypal, and ApplePay will also be charged immediately against your account upon finalizing your gift on the site.

Thousands of companies match gifts to higher education, which can double or triple your gift. To find out if your employer (or your spouse's employer) has a matching gift program, visit https://together.emory.edu/matching-gifts. If so, please contact your Human Resources representative for a matching gift form. You may need to provide Emory's Employer Identification Number (EIN) on the form, which is 58-0566256. Please note matching gifts often take several months to process, thus they do not count in the Emory Day of Giving 36 hour campaign.

Yes. When you make a gift at dayofgiving.emory.edu, gifts are processed through a third-party secure payment processing vendor. The information you provide when you make a gift will be used by Emory University for the purpose of correctly allocating, crediting, and acknowledging your gift. The charge on your credit card statement will appear from EMORY MOMENTUM or EMORY GIVING ATLANTA GA or EMORY UNIVERSITY ADVANCMENT. When making a gift with your credit card, be sure to use your billing address and NOT your mailing address.
