The Asian Student Organization is one of the largest cultural clubs on campus, boasting over 400 general body members and hosting some of the biggest annual events at Emory. Our mission is to serve the student community by promoting awareness, cultural diversity, and inclusive practices of multicultural values. We focus on all aspects of API issues and strive to put forth a standard as members of Emory and the greater Atlanta community by providing an environment for open discussion and ideals to be expressed. To accomplish this, we host events throughout the year to both educate our general body members and provide a fun outlet to destress from academics.
In order to live up to expectations, we use funding to keep our events as authentic, exciting, and engaging as possible. ASO annually hosts the Moonlight Gala, one of the biggest events on campus, in which we celebrate the Lunar New Year, provide ballroom catering from local Asian restaurants, invite live student performers, and give out various prizes in a raffle. We also host Chatter that Matters, a speaker event in which we invite a prominent Asian celebrity to speak with Emory students — past guests include Simu Liu, Ashley Park, Steven Lim, Eric Nam, and the Shib sibs! Funding would go toward improving/expanding our events and giving ASO, as well as the students of Emory, the chance to experience something even more exciting!
