Emory Volunteer Medical Interpretation Services is an organization dedicated to helping communities by providing Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi medical interpretation services to underserved areas of Atlanta and the greater Georgia area. We aim to reduce healthcare disparities experienced by patients with Limited English Proficiency. We from Emory VMIS believe not just in volunteering but also in creating an improved experience for both patients and physicians.
Funds donated to VMIS are primarily used to subsidize the training costs for our next class of medical interpreters so that we may ensure that all of our volunteers are adequately trained and certified for this important responsibility. Some donations will also be put towards transportation for our interpreters to and from clinics, as well as internal bonding events for our members.
