The Latinx Student Organization is dedicated to increasing the representation and celebration of Latinx culture at Emory University through community building and culturally affirming programming. As our Latinx community at Emory continues to grow, our mission is to meet the needs of Latinx undergraduate students for years to come and fill in cultural gaps at Emory through our events and committees. Through event programming, community outreach, and advocacy, LSO fosters meaningful relationships between Latinx undergraduate students, Latinx professionals at Emory, and the local Atlanta community. We provide a safe and carefree space for Latinx students to feel at home and step away from academic stressors.
We are fundraising to increase our programming outreach and continue building the Latinx community at Emory. In the past, LSO has executed large and small-scale programming for Latinx students at Emory to celebrate their roots and heritage. Our events reach 40-400 participants and are designed for Latinx undergraduate students at Emory to share space, experiences, and interests with others. One popular example of our events includes Dia de los Muertos, a celebration and remembrance of loved ones who have passed. Dia de los Muertos includes a mariachi, ofrenda making, altar building, and delicious food. We look forward to continuing to serve our community with these funds!
