She’s the First (STF) is a non-profit organization that works to promote girls’ education worldwide and address global issues of gender inequity. Rather than employing a sponsorship model, STF teams up with local grassroots leaders to ensure that girls everywhere are educated, respected, and heard. As a result, these girls become the first women in their families to achieve amazing milestones—and they are never the last.
At Emory, STF fundraises to enable groups of women around the world to become the first high school and college graduates in their families, and empowering girls to become activists in their own right. Beyond that, we advocate for broader issues of gender equity by hosting monthly informational meetings about current events, coordinating service trips into the greater Atlanta community with partner organizations, and collaborating with other groups on campus with similar goals. 100% of funds raised through Emory's Day of Giving will go directly to She's the First, where they will be used to support local, grassroots initiatives to promote girls' education.
