Candler School of Theology

Your gift to Candler School of Theology will support the next generation of Christian leaders called to ministry and service. Whatever their path—from church ministry to nonprofit service and advocacy—Candler graduates are ready to serve, wherever God leads.

On Emory Day of Giving please give to one or more of these Candler priorities making a Candler education possible for all students called into God’s service.

Theology School Fund for Excellence: Support Candler’s whole mission to educate faithful and creative leaders for the church’s ministries throughout the world.

Candler Master of Divinity Scholarship Fund: Your gift supports our ultimate goal for students to attend Candler tuition-free and to remove the burden of debt as they begin their life of ministry.

Erskine-Smith-Moseley Scholarship Endowment: Give to provide students of Candler’s Black Church Studies Program with valuable scholarships and stipends.

La Mesa Academy: La Mesa offers a welcoming and open environment for students from diverse cultures, ethnicities, and ecclesial traditions. With courses in Spanish, English, and Korean, La Mesa will serve students preparing to be lay pastors in mainline denominations or ordained ministers in traditions that typically educate their clergy through certificate programs. It is also designed for leaders who are serving in non-traditional ministerial settings, including the non-profit sector as well as those leaders involved in community development.

Candler Student Emergency Fund: Help assist Candler students experiencing temporary financial hardship, including housing and food insecurity.

Youth Theological Initiative (YTI): Support programs that equip high school students with theological tools that empower them to create positive change in their schools, communities, and the world.

Help build the Dr. Teresa Fry Brown Womanist Discourse Scholarship. To recognize Dr. Fry Brown’s incredible impact on Candler School of Theology, a group of friends, colleagues, and alumni have come together to establish the Dr. Teresa Fry Brown Womanist Discourse Scholarship. Throughout her career, Dr. Fry Brown has experienced the delicate balance between pursuing advanced credentials for career growth and meeting the essential needs of raising a child. As a pioneer in womanist discourse, she has committed herself to creating a space for others to follow in her footsteps. It has long been her dream to ensure future generations do not have to carry the same burdens.

If you choose to give to the Dr. Teresa Fry Brown Womanist Discourse Scholarship, your gift will be designated for The Dr. Teresa Fry Brown Womanist Discourse Scholarship within the Gifts Pending—Theology School Endowed Scholarships account, a holding account until the $250,000 endowment threshold is achieved. Should the minimum funding required to endow the scholarship not be met by 3/27/2025, then gifts will be redirected to an expendable scholarship fund for the same purpose. You will see "Gifts Pending—Theology School Endowed Scholarships " on your receipt for your gift.
