Our African American Collections recount the beginnings of people of African descent in North America extending to the present, reflecting the development of social, political, and cultural movements, literature, visual arts, dance, and sports. They celebrate the efforts of well-known public intellectuals, scholars, writers, and religious leaders. They also affirm the contributions of lesser-known, though equally important, community activists, cultural workers, and African Americans representing divergent backgrounds and perspectives.
The University Libraries Fund for Excellence is the discretionary fund that covers all aspects of the Libraries’ works. Funding for general collections allows Emory Libraries to develop, care for, and expand holdings in every category, and to preserve their materials for future generations.
The Linda Matthews Fund for Special Collections (MARBL Fund for Excellence / Linda Matthews Fund for Special Collections) is the discretionary fund of the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library. The remarkable archives and rare volumes in Rose Library have been shaped and strengthened through the generosity of thousands of individuals who have supported the library through the decades.
Rose Library’s Literary Collections Fund provides support for the care and expansion of the library's literary and poetry collections. Gifts to this fund also enable Rose Library to create programs and exhibitions to share the collections with the community.
