We are a student-led initiative dedicated to reducing and phasing out single-use plastic across Emory's 8 colleges through outreach, education, policy changes, and most importantly a “Break Free From Plastic” pledge which seeks to phase out unnecessary single-use plastic on campus by 2026.
Since our founding in 2021, we have continued building a taskforce of dedicated undergraduate students passionate about solving the plastic crisis. With many different committees on our exec board, and a heavily involved GBM, Plastic Free Emory continues to engage with students and staff alike around making our campus more sustainable.
With your kind and generous donations, we will be one step closer to making plastic-free and low-waste resources accessible to students across campus. The money will go towards resources for students so they can live a more zero-waste lifestyle, towards community-building events to spread awareness, and towards messaging to support institutional change toward achieving our goal! Think: plastic-free carnivals, hackathons, and workshops, all centered on student voices, environmental justice, and low waste! We want to give students the power to make sustainable changes in their own lives and feel empowered to call on those in power to do the same. Our philosophy is that going zero-waste shouldn't be expensive and that universities are centers for change. So, with this funding, we plan to make this a reality!
Every contribution, no matter how small, matters to us! We thank you for your generous support and allyship.
