Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a non-profit organization that works with local community leaders to host free pop-up clinics in rural areas. RAM’s primary mission is to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by delivering high-quality healthcare to communities in need. RAM offers a range of essential services, including dental, vision, and medical care, completely free of charge, with a particular focus on underserved and uninsured individuals. Emory University’s chapter of Remote Area Medical aims to bridge the gap in access to healthcare through volunteering at pop-up clinics throughout the country and hosting free medical clinics in our community. Emory RAM successfully held the first-ever RAM clinic in the state of Georgia in September 2021, and our members are currently preparing for our third clinic, which will take place in Augusta in April 2025.
Next month, we are hosting a pop-up clinic in Augusta, GA, offering free medical, dental, and vision services, and we need your help raising the funds for a successful clinic! 89 of Georgia’s 159 counties are designated as Primary Care Shortage Areas, meaning their residents suffer from a lack of accessible healthcare resources. Our clinic targets rural populations and uninsured individuals, bringing them much-needed services and ensuring nobody is left behind. We also provide follow-up care to create lasting health outcomes and strive to create a tangible impact by improving healthcare accessibility in remote communities. We aim to treat 200+ patients and provide an estimated value of $120,210 in medical care; any donations to our campaign will directly help us achieve this goal!
