Sustainability Initiatives

Did you know our team works with staff, faculty, and student leaders to integrate sustainability into the operational, academic, research, community-building, and visioning functions of Emory University, Oxford College, and Emory Healthcare campuses? That’s an enormous mission and one that we cannot do alone. Your support is essential for Emory to model transformative practices and sustainable choices at every level – creating a cleaner, safer, healthier, and more equitable world for all of us.

Your gift to Office of Sustainability Initiatives can support our work in three areas:

Green Office at Emory – Creating a culture of sustainability across Emory’s academic, administrative, and healthcare communities requires individual commitments to energy and water efficiency and conservation, waste reduction and landfill diversion, conscientious procurement, sustainable events, and a safe and healthy work environment. Certified Green Offices can apply for small grants every year to implement their own projects. Help us help the thousands of employees, students, and healthcare professionals who engage in acts of sustainability in Emory workplaces!

Green Labs at Emory – Like Green Offices, this program focuses on ensuring our world-class researchers, faculty, clinicians, and students in labs across Emory have all the resources they need to implement sustainable strategies in labs. We provide best practice action plans and offer Green Lab certification once they have met the requirements – a point of pride for those who have taken the actions. Contributions to Green Labs at Emory will support grants for sustainable actions in labs and ongoing lab waste diversion efforts.

Sustainability Initiatives Fund – This fund boosts our office’s efforts to invest in people. You are helping us build a pipeline for 6-12 undergraduate and graduate students a semester in our experiential, paid internship program and for post-graduate youth leaders passionate about climate solutions, social justice, and sustainability programming through our newly launched Fellowship program. Your contribution will also help us provide the financial and programmatic support for anyone at Emory to lead their own sustainability research and programs through our annual Sustainability & Social Justice Incentives program.

Thank you for your generosity and trust in our work – together we are making a lasting difference for the common good.
