Asian Pacific-Islander Desi American Activists

Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Activists (APIDAA) is a student-run organization that, through political activism, aims to address AAPI issues through education and civic engagement. We hope to celebrate Pan-Asian culture by dispelling stereotypes, addressing and dismantling faults committed, and reclaiming the Pan-Asian identities on campus as well as illustrating the diversity of concerns within the community. Some ways we accomplish this is through creating & hosting political education events, phone/text banking, canvassing, tabling for voter registration, advocating for social justice through petitions, education, presence, partnering with other BIPOC, cultural, and political organizations, creating safe discussion spaces, and dispelling stigma around mental health.

APIDAA is fundraising so that we can keep hosting events for the Emory and broader community that align with our goals of engaging students through vivid engagement opportunities to broaden their perspectives and skillsets. Additionally, we work to raise and spread awareness for the social issues that are pertinent to the AAPI community and those we are in ally with through an intersectional lens. We would use funds to reach a broader audience, invite notable guests to speak to Emory, and fund outreach.
