Emory Day of Giving coming soon, March 22-23, 2023!
Volunteer Medical Interpretation Services

Volunteer Medical Interpretation Services (VMIS) is an organization dedicated to helping communities by providing Spanish and Portuguese medical interpretation services to underserved areas of Atlanta. We partner with Good Samaritan Health Center, Harriet Tubman Women’s Clinic, and Interfaith Clinic. Our goal is to improve healthcare disparities experienced by patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). We, from Emory VMIS, believe not just in volunteering, but also in creating an improved experience for both patients and physicians. As a club, we average 720 hours of volunteering annually.

Our funds will be used to help offset the costs of the medical interpreter course through ALTA Language Services. This training and certification prepares our interpreters. We hope to accept more interpreters and expand the mission of VMIS.
