Emory Black Law Students Association

As a local chapter of the National Black Law Students Association, we embody a mission to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. One initiative our chapter is fundraising for is the creation of a 3L scholarship for our members who are rising third-year (“3L”) students. Currently, our organization has scholarships targeting first-year and second-year students but does not have an initiative in place to provide aid to 3Ls. As students approach their third and last year of law school, they are faced with several financial obligations, including the costs of bar prep, bar exam, graduation regalia, books, interview attire, and more. Our 3L members are often forced to take out extra loans and borrow money to cover these costs. We would like to create a scholarship that will help alleviate some of the financial burden and stress that our 3Ls face before embarking on their legal careers. For reference, here is a breakdown of some estimated 3L expenses that your gift could help support:
