Emory Center for Ethics
  • Will artificial intelligence destroy privacy and erode our ability to control our own lives?
  • When should we stop medically ineffective treatments?
  • Should we remove historical monuments that honor Confederate military and political leaders?
  • How do we ensure people with debilitating pain receive adequate treatment amidst increasing opioid addiction?
  • What can classics like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein teach us about hubris and cowardice, rejection and otherness, and limits and responsibility in science?

The world’s greatest challenges demand thoughtful and courageous ethical responses. Emory Center for Ethics is dedicated to improving ethical reasoning, enhancing moral discourse, promoting ethical engagement, and guiding people in exploring the centrality of ethical issues in society and the world.

With your support, we transform the lives of current and future generations who will challenge moral assumptions and recognize the role of ethics in their own lives and that of others.

The Center for Ethics’ commitment is facilitated by staff and faculty who engage in cutting-edge research, scholarship, and teaching across all nine Emory schools. We create innovative ethics-based programming and curricula, empower students to take leadership roles, and establish deep connections with peer universities, professionals, corporations, organizations, and the community.
